Did anyone actually believe that The Blair Witch Project was real during its marketing campaign?
I was too young to remember, but the film is praised as 'inventing modern movie marketing'. Did people truly think it was real at the time? It had such an interesting marketing campaign even down to the actors using their real names in the film. IMDB was quite a new website at the time and the actors were listed as missing, I think? But did it really have anyone fooled at the time? There was nothing really like it before, so it wouldn’t surprise me.
U.S. tech stocks are now worth more than the entire European stock market.
The dominance of major U.S. tech stocks in recent years has pushed the sector past another milestone as it is now more valuable than the entire European stock market, according to Bank of America Global Research. The firm said in a note that this is the first time the market cap of the U.S. tech sector, at $9.1 trillion, exceeds Europe, which including the UK and Switzerland is now at $8.9 trillion. For reference, the firm said that in 2007, Europe was four times the size of U.S. technology stocks.
Twitch streamers with their ideas like removing player market are going to kill this game
I really think that the majority of big streamers on this game have a highly warped perception on it. They keep forgetting that the mechanics they are abusing to make themselves OP are the same mechanics low level players are using to survive. No matter what game you play on this planet if you invest literally all your time into it you’re creating an uneven play field. You can blame it on the game all you want but in reality it’s just you. I know loads of new players that would quit this game in a heartbeat if flea market would be removed because they’d have literally no fighting chance against the chads that have maxed traders and know how to consistently kill scav bosses, raiders, and find good ammo.
🗣️ 🔊 The message is clear: "PLEASE DO NOT PAY MORE FOR AN RTX 3080 THAN THE MSRP... Paying inflated prices only incentivizes the scalpers. Please be patient, wait for restocking of authorized retailers, and help the community dry up this grey market."
TIL that Spanish porn star Nacho Vidal was born into a very wealthy family. However, most of the family's wealth was lost on Black Monday, the stock market crash of 1987. In 2005, using his porn star income, Vidal bought back the mansion his family used to own.
Currently working as senior software engineer at a no-name non-tech medium sized company. After much leetcoding I was able to jump ship to a much more favorable company. As part of my exit I recommended HR to post a Jr Software Engineer position to careers portal to fill easier part of my day to day tasks. I specifically told HR expect zero to no applicants, as I thought the market is hot - everyone should be applying to FAANGMULASS. Less than a week later I was told there is 200+ applicants plus dozen more on LinkedIn. Originally I was hoping to do meaningful non-leetcode interview rounds with lot of behavior introspection. Now it's impossible to filter the pool with just 2 Software Engineers, so most likely we have to go through automated HackerRank style leetcode Online Assessments. Just want to share the craziness of the current job market. Huge condolences to all the new grads out there this year. EDIT: I thought the market is hot because accordingly to TeamBlind everyone is getting 400k+ TC offers with FAANGMULASS. I guess not. EDIT: Facebook Amazon Apple Netflix Google Microsoft Uber Lyft Airbnb Stripe Square EDIT: After screening 30 or something resumes I found some dude interned at Google two years ago applying to be at this no name company. Wow
